It has the greatest resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion of the duplex grades, with high resistance to stress corrosion cracking and very tall strength. Pitting is the form of corrosion stainless steels are often minimum exempt to. The general corrosion resistance of 445M2 is at least as appropriate as grade 316, with better resistance to atmospheric corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and sensitization to inter granular corrosion.
